Myths vs. Facts About Teeth and Mouth

Myth vs. Fact 1
Myth: Teeth of the sick if removed would affect the eye nerve. It can even cause blindness.
Fact: The nerves in the teeth of different eye nerve. If someone is sick tooth due to caries (cavities) on the upper teeth, spreading the infection can indeed achieve the cheek to the eye. However, tooth extraction above will not cause blindness.

Myth vs. Fact 2
Myth: Toothache can be cured simply by taking a painkiller (analgesic).
Fact: Drugs "pain killer" only helps to relieve the pain temporarily, but the bacterial infection of the dental remains and a time of pain will arise again. So in case of caries, teeth should be treated. When caries has not reached the nerve tissue, the tooth can still be patched. But when the neural network was exposed, the tooth could not immediately patched but must be done root canal treatment first.

Relationship to Smoking and Dental Health

Why smoking is closely associated with oral health? obviously it can easily be answered, because cigarettes smoked by mouth. By easy we can see a smoker's lips look darker than the lip of a non-smoker, why?

In general, we know that there are cigarettes in Indonesia there are two types, cigarettes with filter and without filter (better known as clove cigarettes). Cigarettes without filters tend to quickly change the color of teeth on a cigarette with a filter.

Now let us follow the trail of cigarette smoke why so many organs "of the body injured. When we inhale cigarette smoke from a cigarette into the oral cavity, a few seconds with millions of cigarette smoke substances" are chemicals in the oral cavity and affects the tissues and organs that are in the oral cavity including the teeth themselves. Hot smoke that blow continuously into the oral cavity is a heat stimuli cause changes in blood flow and reduce expenses saliva. As a result of the oral cavity becomes dry and more an-aerobic (oxygen-free atmosphere) so as to provide a suitable environment for the growth of an-aerobic bacteria in plaque. By itself smokers at greater risk of disease-causing bacteria infected tissues supporting the teeth than those of smokers.

Gums smokers also tend to have thickened stratum corneum. This thickened area which looks more rugged than the surrounding tissue and reduced its malleability.Narrowing of blood vessels caused by nicotine resulted in reduced blood flow in the gums thus increasing the likelihood of the onset of gum disease.

Tar in cigarette smoke also increases the chances of gingivitis, gum disease is most often caused by bacterial plaque and other factors which may cause the accumulation of plaque around the gums. Tar can be deposited on the surface of the tooth and the tooth root so that the surface becomes rough and facilitate the attachment plaque. From the difference research has been carried out plaque and tartar formation of many more in the oral cavity of smokers compared to nonsmokers. Disease is severe tooth supporting tissues, bone destruction and tooth loss tooth advocate more common in smokers than nonsmokers. In the treatment of dental tissue disease patients pendukund smokers require greater care and more. Whereas in patients with non-smokers in the same situation and simply just do standard maintenance such as cleaning of plaque and tartar.

Severity of illness arising from moderate to advanced level directly related to the number of cigarettes smoked each day how long or how many years one becomes a smoker and smoking status itself, is still smoking up to now or have been stopped.
Nicotine plays a role in starting the occurrence of tooth supporting tissue disease because nicotine can be absorbed by the soft tissues of the oral cavity including the gums through the bloodstream and the attachment of gum to the tooth surface and roots. Nicotine can be found on the surface of the tooth root and its metabolites kontinin results can be found in the liquid gum.

Some care is strongly advocated in patients benrhenti smokers to smoke for a while, during the treatment process. As patients in the pemsangan implants.

It can be concluded that losses resulting from cigarette smoking on oral health:

1. Change the color of teeth, gums and lips.
2. Caries in the faster formed.
3. The possibility of cancer in the mouth very large.
4. Clear breath smelled of cigarettes.
5. Changing the network "in the oral cavity that cause various negative impacts on the health of the mouth itself as a trigger caries.

Denture

Never imagined when we are old will be wearing the denture / false teeth? Surely we've all seen grandmother, grandfather or parents wearing dentures. Needs of each person to wear dentures is quite diverse, ranging from the need to replace missing teeth, replacing teeth that have been damaged and made a sign of social status that we often hear in the region of Madura.
It is therefore not surprising that the denture with gold alloy is widely used by certain circles although aesthetically less appropriate.

In general, dentures that the world of dentistry is better known as an artificial tooth is divided into two, namely a removable denture (GTL) and artificial teeth fixed (GTC).Removable denture is a denture that can be removed and installed by the user. While dentures are artificial teeth fixed which can not be removed or installed by the user.
For more details I can explain as follows:

1. Some Artificial Teeth
Ie denture that replaces one or more teeth in the arch. There are two kinds of partial denture that is (1) removable partial dentures, namely GTS which can be removed easily by both the patient and the dentist. (2) Artificial teeth fixed part, the GTS is in its use can not be removed easily by the patient.

2. Complete Artificial Teeth
Ie denture replaces all teeth in one arch and around the jaw in the oral cavity

Tooth loss could be associated with heart disease.

Date of your teeth because chewing gum ..? You best be careful. Because according to research from the University of Minnesota, USA over 711 volunteers in Northern Manhattan, tooth loss could be a sign you have symptoms of cardiovascular heart disease.

In its publication on `Stroke: Journal of the American Heart Association` the possibility of losing a tooth could be a possibility of periodontal disease is associated with arteriosclerosis (a symptom that can develop in the arteries and make blood flow to the brain is disrupted).
The results of the University of Minnesota over 711 volunteers who average 66 years old shows it.

Though they are known to have no history of heart disease or stroke.

All volunteers examined dental health, physical, and neurological.
Dental health is an important thing, including the daily living habits.
A number of volunteers were also examined by ultrasound scans to detect the level of the carotid arteries.
At the end of the study the researchers found increased number of tooth loss.
About 45 percent of the volunteers lost nine teeth, 60 percent of them actually lost 10 teeth in which they all have experienced plaque in blood flow.

Although many researchers suspect that the loss / tooth loss is an indicator of chronic infection caused by chewing gum, but they cautioned that tooth loss may have other relationships a number of diseases.
Researchers then add the number of volunteers including those who emmang linked to heart disease.

Such as smoking, diet and low physical activity.
Then the researchers said tooth loss an early sign of cardiovascular heart disease.

" We understand that this is the first discovery of the relationship between tooth loss with cardiovascular disease, "said lead researcher Dr. Moise Desvarieux.
